Sarah and Tim are keen enthusiasts of modern architecture, often spending their weekends travelling the country to visit iconic buildings. As their three kids were starting to leave home, they found a site which offered them the opportunity to create a grand design of their own.

Tim is passionate about exploring how technology can help to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and he wanted a house which would allow the family to live almost entirely off grid. Therefore, as well as being extremely well insulated, their home also includes a sophisticated system comprising solar panels, a Tesla battery and an air source heat pump. This provides virtually all their power, heating and hot water and even charges their electric car.
