The client for this project was a developer who had acquired a five-storey grade II* listed Georgian townhouse in Cheltenham. The building had fallen into to a badly dilapidated state, having been a neglected apartment building for the previous 50 years.
They wanted to reorganise the internal layout and refurbish the building into 9 well-appointed apartments. Adding value and desirability to the apartments enabled funds to be spent on restoration and repair.
Much of the original character of the building was reinstated, with dropped ceilings and false walls removed to reveal original covings and living areas the full width of the building. The central stair and skylight was restored to allow natural light into the hallways.
